AIROPA IV: Validating point spread function reconstruction on various science cases

نویسندگان

چکیده

We present an analysis of six independent on-sky datasets taken with the Keck-II/NIRC2 instrument. Using off-axis point spread function (PSF) reconstruction software AIROPA, we extract stellar astrometry, photometry, and other fitting metrics to characterize performance this package. test effectiveness AIROPA reconstruct PSF across field view in varying atmospheric conditions, number location reference stars, crowding, telescope position angle (PA). compare astrometric precision residuals between a static model spatially that incorporates instrumental aberrations turbulence during exposures. Most measure show little no improvement variable-PSF mode over single-PSF mode. For one data sets, find photometric is significantly improved (by ∼10 × ) by measuring trend seen photometry as location. nearly all comparable both modes, ∼13 % smaller uncertainty best case. largely confirm variable does not improve for observations. attribute unaccounted are characterized through afternoon adaptive optics (AO) bench calibrations.

Edge Artifacts in Point Spread Function-based PET Reconstruction in Relation to Object Size and Reconstruction Parameters

Objective(s): We evaluated edge artifacts in relation to phantom diameter and reconstruction parameters in point spread function (PSF)-based positron emission tomography (PET) image reconstruction. Methods: PET data were acquired from an original cone-shaped phantom filled with 18F solution (21.9 kBq/mL) for 10 min using a Biograph mCT scanner. The images were reconstructed using the baseline or...

Evaluation of the Effect of Tumor Position on Standardized Uptake Value Using Time-of-Flight Reconstruction and Point Spread Function

Objective(s): The present study was conducted to examine whether the standardized uptake value (SUV) may be affected by the spatial position of a lesion in the radial direction on positron emission tomography (PET) images, obtained via two methods based on time-of-flight (TOF) reconstruction and point spread function (PSF). Methods: A cylinder phantom with the sphere (30mm diameter), located in...

Blind reconstruction of sparse images with unknown point spread function

We consider the image reconstruction problem when the original image is assumed to be sparse and when partial knowledge of the point spread function (PSF) is available. In particular, we are interested in recovering the magnetization density given magnetic resonance force microscopy (MRFM) data, and we present an iterative alternating minimization algorithm (AM) to solve this problem. A smoothi...

Point spread function based image reconstruction in optical projection tomography.

As a result of the shallow depth of focus of the optical imaging system, the use of standard filtered back projection in optical projection tomography causes space-variant tangential blurring that increases with the distance to the rotation axis. We present a novel optical tomographic image reconstruction technique that incorporates the point spread function of the imaging lens in an iterative ...

New algorithms for adaptive optics point-spread function reconstruction

Context. The knowledge of the point-spread function compensated by adaptive optics is of prime importance in several image restoration techniques such as deconvolution and astrometric/photometric algorithms. Wavefront-related data from the adaptive optics realtime computer can be used to accurately estimate the point-spread function in adaptive optics observations. The only point-spread functio...
